“My Onesight Thailand trip was amazing!! We flew into Bangkok then, took a smaller plane to the city of Khon Kaen. From there, we drove a few hours to the "city" of Roi-Et. That's where we stayed. The clinic was still about a 40 min drive from the hotel, but it was still considered Roi-et I think. We had 8 days of clinic, but two of them were half days, and we saw 15,262 patients. 10 doctors from all over the world, not to mention the over 20 or so other team members. We had representatives from USA, Canada, Italy, Germany, Belgium, Ireland, South Africa, Sweden, France, Iran, Mexico, China, and I'm sure I'm missing a bunch!!
I think it's the same for every mission trip, but I always want to be able to do more for each patient. It's such a fine delicate tug of war between wanting to give really thorough exceptional care vs the number of people we get to help. Do you help a lot of people a little, or help out a few people more?? Is there a good answer...I don't know.... But I do know that we made a difference in a lot of people's lives and that's ok with me. I love Thailand and the people. You will not find a more friendly and embracing culture. The food's fantastic too!!! I would love to go back....”
