Our Mission

Picture
"The primary mission of VOSH/International is to facilitate the provision and the sustainability of vision care worldwide for people who can neither afford nor obtain such care. In Dec 2001 we partnered with the World Health Organization and pledged to eliminate preventable blindness by the year 2020."  -VOSH/International

SVOSH is a student version of VOSH.  Members are 1st through 4th year optometry students at the University of Missouri St. Louis College of Optometry.  We participate in weekly “workdays” by cleaning and neutralizing lenses to prepare them to be sent either locally or globally to people in need of eye wear.  By participating in SVOSH workdays and activities, students earn service hours.  Activities include our biannual lock-in and other various fundraisers, such as No-Shave November.  Once students earn the required number of service hours, they are eligible to go on mission trips to provide eye care worldwide!
